Upcoming COMMON Events for Fall 2023
Summer is generally a quiet time for COMMON, but you can expect things to get busy again in the fall. And this year, there are some very exciting events on the schedule.
IT Leadership Summit
First, there will be a virtual IT Leadership Summit on September 7. The topic is “Generative AI and Security for You,” and the speakers are Jeff Crume, CTO for IBM Security Americas, and Carol Woodbury, President and CTO, DXR Security. Carol is also a well-known IBM i security expert. The COMMON webpage has more details about the topic and the speakers. This webinar is free to COMMON members only.
Infoview Systems Webinar Series
From September 26–28, COMMON is partnering with Infoview Systems for a three-day webinar series for IT professionals in India. There is a one-hour session each day, starting with an overview of COMMON and the partnership with Infoview Systems. Other topics will be covered, including modern application development and managing spooled files with SQL. You can find the full details on this event at COMMON India: Modern Application Development on IBM i. This event is available for no charge, but you must have an account on the COMMON website and register for it.
Fall Conference
NAViGATE 2023 is the fall in-person event and will be in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on October 9–11. As is typical with the fall event, expect about 100 sessions with 30 speakers and a wide array of technical content. There is also going to be a special one-day, in-person leadership event, focusing on technical talent, retention and skills gap challenges. We hear a lot of concerns about skills, and this leadership event will share information on how others have successfully managed their IBM i skills with talent acquisition and training. More information will be forthcoming on the leadership event and registration will be required.
Other COMMON Opportunities
These events are exiting, but don’t forget about the online content library featuring hundreds of hours of recorded material. The webinar, The Value of a COMMON Membership, demonstrates how to access the online content library to take advantage of this wealth of information. The online content library includes the four bootcamps (ILE RPG, System Administration, Security and the IFS) which are available to you as part of your COMMON membership.
