Operationalizing AI Throughout an Organization
Last week, Joseph Gulla discussed eight products used to operationalize AI throughout the organization. This week, he examines eight others.
This week, I complete my exploration of analytics. If you have been following along, you know that my focus has been on specific IBM products. Last week, I discussed a group of eight products used to operationalize AI throughout the organization. This week, I discuss the remaining eight products.
This group of 16 products has been stretching my mind. I don’t have hands-on IT understanding of AI like I do with other domains like transaction processing or systems management. Reading about these AI products gives me information points that you can use to develop a mind map of the AI domain in the view of IBM. I hope it does this for you as well. I find the intersection of data and AI fascinating.
Specific Products to Operationalize AI
As I wrote last week, there are a significant number of IBM products that help organizations infuse data through the use of AI. Let’s explore eight more of these interesting and useful products:
1. Watson Personality Insights
IBM Watson® Personality Insights is a service on the IBM Cloud® that enables organizations to predict personality characteristics, needs, and values from written text. Watson Personality Insights makes possible the creation of detailed personality portraits by using linguistic analytics to infer individual personality characteristics. It gets this from from digital communications like email, blog posts, tweets and forum posts.
Organizations can use IBM Watson Personality Insights to learn consumption preferences by looking at a user’s inclination to use or buy different products, services and activities. Broadly, this can include shopping, music, movies and other fields. The product helps organization to understanding individual customers interests, personalized product recommendations and highly targeted messaging. With this knowledge, organizations can personalize the customer experience.
2. IBM Watson Speech to Text
IBM Watson Speech to Text converts audio and voice into written text for quick understanding of content. The product can be used to improve customer service, for example, allowing users to ask questions using natural language. Having their needs in writing can fast track them to the answers they need. This is made possible through the product’s customized speech-to-text capabilities that are driven by machine learning.
Organizations can deploy Watson Speech to Text behind an in-house firewall or on any cloud. Organizations have the flexibility to deploy Watson anywhere with IBM Cloud Pak® for Data which is a fully-integrated data and AI platform that helps modernize the way you collect, organize and analyze data to instill AI.
3. IBM Watson Text to Speech
IBM Watson Text to Speech converts written text into natural-sounding audio in a variety of languages and voices. IBM Watson Text to Speech helps organizations brand a voice, enabling them to improve the customer experience. The product improves customer engagement by interacting with users in their own languages using any written text.
Watson Text to Speech offers many application opportunities, generally increasing accessibility for users with different abilities. Organizations, for example, have provided audio options to avoid distracted driving and automated customer service interactions to increase efficiencies.
4. IBM Watson Tone Analyzer
IBM Watson Tone Analyzer is used to probe emotions and tones in what people write online. This online input can be documents like like tweets or reviews. With this product, organizations can predict whether individuals are happy, sad or confident.
Organizations can use Watson Tone Analyzer to enhance customer service by monitoring customer service and support conversations so you can respond to your customers appropriately. You can use it to understand if customers are satisfied or frustrated, and if agents are polite and sympathetic. You can also integrate the product with chatbots, enabling them to detect customer tones. With this understanding, organizations can build dialog strategies to adjust the customer conversation appropriately.
5. IBM Maximo Visual Inspection
IBM Maximo Visual Inspection is used to rapidly deploy the capabilities of computer vision for automated inspection without the need for in house deep learning expertise. In many organizations, operations teams are looking for easy to deploy computer vision solutions that can meet their needs. From the beginning, AI technologies have been proven to evolve their ability to accurately identify issues and take action.
By adding intelligent “eyes” to an organization’s operations, IBM Maximo Visual Inspection enables reliability and quality teams to do new things. They can use commodity devices to quickly identify defects in production outputs as well as remotely monitor assets for potential disruptions. IBM Maximo Visual Inspection is a solution that learns about operations and equipment and creates a significant advantage for teams under pressure to produce increasingly higher-quality outputs.
6. IBM Cognos Analytics
IBM Cognos Analytics is used to uncover hidden insights with a personalized analytics experience driven by AI. It is an AI-infused business intelligence solution that accelerates data preparation, analysis, and reporting supporting better business outcomes.
You use it to accelerate results, and prepare, analyze, visualize, and derive actionable insights in a unified and secure environment. It can help you automate data exploration as AI helps uncover hidden trends and drivers. This way, you get the facts behind your data and along with real-time data insights. Organizations can mix and match capabilities while staying on budget with no minimum user count. In addition, organizations can access insights from their data anywhere as full capabilities are available across on-premises, cloud and IBM Cloud Pak for Data versions.
7. IBM Planning Analytics
IBM Planning Analytics is used to automate planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis. It makes it possible to integrate financial and operational plans across the organization to produce more accurate forecasts.
Many organizations rely on spreadsheets and manual processes for their planning. IBM Planning Analytics is an AI-infused integrated planning solution that allows organizations to surpass the limits spreadsheets and manual planning. With this product, organizations can quickly and easily create more accurate plans for financial operations, sales and supply chain.
The product has recently being enhanced. With new predictive forecasting capabilities, Planning Analytics puts the power of algorithmic forecasting in the hands of users. Even without data science skills, users can develop for more accurate, consistent and timely forecasts.
8. IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio
IBM ILOG® CPLEX® Optimization Studio is used to quickly develop and deploy decision optimization. With it, organizations can build and solve complex optimization models to identify the best possible actions.
IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio is a prescriptive analytics solution that enables rapid development and deployment of decision optimization models using mathematical and constraint programming. The product combines a fully featured integrated development environment that supports optimization programming language and the high-performance CPLEX and CP optimizer solvers.
Next Week
Next week, I’ll begin a new series—a focus on IT management. I’ll start with application lifecycle management that is used to manage the governance, development and maintenance of computer programs.
