Celebrating IBM i at COMMON POWERUp18

One of the biggest events for IBM i professionals is the annual conference put on by the COMMON organization. This year, the event is named POWERUp18.

One of the biggest events for IBM i professionals every year is the annual conference put on by the COMMON organization.  This year, the event is named POWERUp18, and it’s being held in San Antonio, Texas May 20-23.

As I discussed in my last post, this is the year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of IBM i, so it makes sense that we’ll have a number of #IBMi30 events at the conference.  For that reason alone, you should take a quick break from what you’re doing right now, and go to the registration page and sign up for this wonderful event

Of course, there are many reasons to join your fellow IBM i devotees at this event. COMMON brings together many of the very best IBM i speakers in the world, for four days of intensive and enjoyable sessions. Or five days, if you want to get some deep training at one of the pre-conference workshops that take place on Saturday, May 19.

POWER Panels

A new addition to the conference, POWER Panels, will consist of a moderator and subject-matter experts discussing hot topics that impact attendees’ businesses. It’s a way for attendees to hear new perspectives and have an opportunity to have their questions answered.

POWER Panel topics:

  • Backup Recovery and High Availability
  • Cognitive
  • Future of IBM i
  • Modernization
  • Open Source
  • Partnering for Success
  • Security

COMMON is soliciting questions ahead of the conference via the panels’ pages on the Online Session Guide (www.common.org/sessions) or the POWERUp18 webpage (www.POWERUp18.com).

There’s also the IT Executive Conference –a “conference within a conference” for IT executives, with sessions that are hand-picked and customized for CIOs, CTOs and IT Directors. The people who attend this will get to discuss trends in IT with people who have the same roles at other companies, as well as with IBM executives and technical leaders.

Yes, there are great reasons to come to any event put on by COMMON, especially the annual conference.

But at this conference in particular, we folks from IBM will be having some fun, and sharing that fun with you—our clients, partners and other members of this community.

Don’t believe me? Come to the EXPO area! Alison Butterill, the IBM i Offering Manager, and Elizabeth Hudson from the marketing team have been working on several things which you will want to see and experience for yourselves.

We hope to see you there!
