IBM Announces Hybrid Cloud Developments to Accelerate Transformation and Simplify Modernization for Clients

In the next step of its roadmap to bring IBM Z and IBM Cloud closer together, IBM has announced Wazi as-a-Service and other key hybrid cloud developments

Today, IBM announced a key hybrid cloud development to help clients modernize: IBM Wazi as-a-Service (Wazi aaS), which will bring z/OS development and test-as-a-service to the public cloud for first time, ever.

This constitutes the next step in IBM’s roadmap to bring IBM Z and IBM Cloud closer together, delivering a true hybrid cloud experience for clients while empowering them to move workloads to where they fit best.

Post-pandemic demand for hybrid cloud has revealed the value of modernization leveraging IBM Z and Cloud, as 71 percent of executives now assert that mainframe-based applications are central to their strategy. By moving dev and test to IBM Public Cloud as a z/OS Virtual Server Instance on IBM Z, clients can move faster, do as much dev and test as they need without worrying about paying for more than they use, or using use resources on-premises that are needed for focusing on production workloads.

Key benefits of this latest announcement include:

  • Increased speed and agility with on-demand access to z/OS for development and test
  • Accelerated DevOps practices with predictable and flexible consumption-based pricing
  • Reduced need for specialized skills with a consistent cloud-native development experience
